Infiniti can be configured to search single or multiple Z39.50 server sources (Z-sources) simultaneously for one of more bibliographic records. Z-Server sources must be correctly configured before they can be used as available sources for importing records. Sources can be used for cataloguing, federated search, or both and made available to academic levels and library groups as required.


Configure Z39.50 Sources


Go to: Cataloguing

  1. - choose available Z-sources from the list. Note: To avoid duplication, My Library should always be displayed and will always be included if checked in Configure Z39.50 Sources.
  2. - click to open the Multiple ISBN Search.
  3. To search for multiple ISBNs across multiple Z-sources, choose a server listed in Multi-Source Search area of the list:
    1. Multiple ISBNs - scan up to 50 ISBNs into the box.
    2. .
    3. - review and select the most suitable records and add copies as required.
      Note: If no servers are listed in this area, then none have been configured for multi-source cataloguing.
  4. To search for multiple ISBNs across one Z-source, choose a server listed in Z39.50-Source area of the list:
    1. Direct Import - set toto bulk import up to 1,000 bibliographic records without prior inspection. Note: You can inspect the new records after they have been imported.
    2. Choose:
      1. Skip Existing Records - do not import a bibliographic record if it already exists in the catalogue.
      2. Overwrite Existing Records - import and overwrite an existing bibliographic record if it already exists in the catalogue.
      3. .
        Note: If no servers are listed in this area, then no Z39.50 sources have been configured for cataloguing.
  5. Regardless of the import method used, all results can be located at Reports > Backward Glance > {date range}.
