To assist your patrons to more readily find the items you have imported you may be able to refresh or enrich MARC21 records by either adding metadata manually or by importing metadata from a MARC21 cataloguing source, e.g., SCIS.


Note: Not all MARC21 cataloguing sources will have full catalogue records for some of the records you have imported.


Note: If you subscribe to Wheelers ePlatform and your school is using Single Sign On (SSO), then your ePlatform API can be configured to automatically import a basic MARC21 record for your collection. These records may then be enriched as described below.


Enrich Records Individually


Having found a record:

  1. Openthe record on the cataloguing page.
  2. - if the record displays an ISBN number to select the Z3950 source you wish to use. Note: The record must have a valid ISBN to process the request and the source must have a matching ISBN.
  3. Follow the prompts to proceed:
    1.  - import metadata and update. Note: All metadata fields will be updated.
    2.  - import metadata and ignore. Note: Collation, notes, abstract and subject headings will remain as in the original record.
  4. The MARC record will update immediately. Note: If the record is for an eBook or an eAudiobook which already has a URL link, the record's URL will be not be changed.
  5. If the record is for an eBook or an eAudiobook which does not yet have a URL link recorded:
    1. - to record the URL link for this title.
  6. Edit  the record:
    1. Site - ensure this is set to a defined Digital Site for your library.
    2. Status - set to Online so the item can be displayed at OPAC.
    3. Link - paste the URL for the record.
    4. Link Label - set as preferred.
    5. Edit other metadata as appropriate.
    6. .


Bulk Enrich Records


If you have the ISBNs for a set of books, eBook, or eAudiobooks, you may be able to bulk import their MARC records from a source.
