Infiniti may be configured to search any number of Z39.50 servers to find bibliographic records for cataloguing and/or to search those databases. Each Z-Server source is configured independently and configuration options determine how each server will be used; cataloguing, federated search, or both, and which academic levels and library groups will be able to search them. Once configured, selected servers can optionally be added organised to be search simultaneously for one of more bibliographic records for .

Note: Before configuring a Z39.50 subscription service you must contact your service provider and request the five (5) details identified below. Some subscription services are free.
Configuring A Z-Server:
- to open the Z-server configuration panel.
- Record Remote Bibliographic Source connection details supplied by your subscription service provider:
- Server IP or URL.
- Port.
- Database.
- Username (may be optional).
- Password (may be optional).
- to ensure connection details are accurately recorded and a connection is made.
- Display Name - choose a suitably descriptive name. Note: Recognisable display names help identify the source.
- Cataloguing -if you intend to use this server as an import source for bibliographic records.
- OPAC -if you intend to allow your patrons to search this server from your library OPAC (see below Who Can See This Integration?). Note: Searching at OPAC is only relevant if the remote library is geographically accessible to your patrons.
- Pinned -check if this Z-server should remain visible on OPAC for all patrons who can search it.
- Supported Attributes - check Z39.50 attributes supported by the remote server. Note: At least one attribute must be checked.

- Repeat Steps 1 to 8 to configure additional Z39.50 Remote Bibliographic Sources you have access to.
- - select each Academic Level in the Available panel list to move it to the Selected list. Note: Click to move all displayed patrons.

Note: Each Z-server can be made available to multiple academic levels and library groups.
Search Multiple Sources Simultaneously
If you have access to and have configured multiple Z39.50 Remote Bibliographic Sources you can configure Infiniti to simultaneously search multiple sources for cataloguing.
Configure Multiple Z-Sources
- - open multi-search configuration panel.
- Available Sources - click to highlight the server/s you may want to search simultaneously.
- - to move to Multi-Search (In This Order).
- - to prioritise preferred search order of listed servers.
- - Include Infiniti in the Z39.50 multi-search. Note: Including Infiniti ensures the search is run across your library catalogue first when searching multiple sources to allow you the option to use the local record and to avoid accidentally duplicating bibliographic records.
