The library manager can choose to set default cataloguing settings to streamline and automate some processes.
Note: The default cataloguing settings on this screen can be changed by anyone with Librarian privileges. These will be used when accessioning new copies or holdings. Best practice is to set these values to the most commonly catalogued values, and, if required, use the Remember for Me checkbox on the Copies page to set new settings for a block of resources for elsewhere, e.g., Music room or other locations.
Go to: Configure > Settings > Cataloguing
- Budget Dept - default budget or account used to the purchase of a new resource. Note: This value will be used for bibliographic record imports unless changed at the time of import.
- Media Type - default media type assigned to a newly accessioned resource.
- Site - default site for housing a newly accessioned resource. Note: This value will be used for bibliographic record imports unless changed at the time of import .
- Section - default section of the library where a newly accessioned resource will be located. Note: This value will be used for bibliographic record imports unless changed at the time of import .
- Status - default status allocated to a newly accessioned resource.

- SCIS and SCoT - include both
- SCIS - include SCIS only
- SCoT - include SCoT only
- Import Full Dewey Decimals -to import 082 04.
- Display Similarity of - sets the similarity detection level you prefer between possible duplicate bibliographic records:
- Unremoved Records; Same Media Type - records still active in the catalogue with matching media type, e.g., Book to Book.
- Unremoved Records; Any Media Type - records still active in the catalogue of any media type, e.g., Paperback to Book.
- Any Record; Any Media Type - both active and inactive records (removed records) in the catalogue of any media type. Note: You cannot merge into or from removed records, they will be displayed on the similarity panel for informative purposes only.
