There are many different option settings available for displaying search results and encouraging students to extend their search beyond your catalogue on the OPAC results page.


Go to: Configure > Settings > OPAC 

  1. Search Results Presentation Display - choose your preferred default presentation display for search results. Note: Users can switch between displays and all displays automatically adjust for the device being used:
    • - list display, 1 item per row
    • - grid display 4 items per row

    •  - grid display 6 items per row

  2. Allow Patron Reviewsswitch toif you want patrons (students and teachers) to be able to write mini reviews about resource. Note: Reviews are star rated and must be approved by a library administrator before publication. Library administrators will see a blue banner message when reviews are awaiting approval.
  3. Show Goodreads Reviews - switch toif you want patrons (students and teachers) to be able to see Goodreads Reviews. Note: These are accessed from a books details page on OPAC.
  4. Patrons See Site Dropdown - switch toif you want patrons (students and teachers) to be able to choose which Site they wish to search.
  5. No Results Additional Messagedisplay this message to students when their search does not return any results.
  6. Search Type - enable available search types for your users to choose from and set the default search type:
    • Author - allow author searches, includes authors and added authors
    • Edition - allow edition searches
    • Genre - allow genre browsing. Note: Genres are browsed rather than searched.
    • Keyword - allow free text searches
    • Media Type - allow media type searcher. Note: Patrons will require some knowledge of your library's nomenclature for media for this search to be successful.
    • Notes - search Abstract and Bib record Notes as well as TOC (table contents) Notes
    • Publisher - allow publisher searches
    • Reading levels - choose level ranges to search if a Reading Scheme is activated in Infiniti
    • Series - allow series searches
    • Subject - allow subject searches
    • Title - allow title searches
  7. ReorderOPAC Tab Display Order across the top of the OPAC results page.
  8. ReorderMy Library Side Bar across the top of the OPAC results page.
  9. Display Search Other Sites on OPAC results page:

    1. - open and display the top 5 refinements for each facet with option for open more

    2. - close refinements and require patron to openrequired


Note: All searches can be done with one or multiple words in the search term. If multiple search terms are used an implied "AND" will be used and resources located will contain all the search terms used. The greater the number of words in the search term the smaller the number of resource located.

Note: Only successful searches, i.e., searches that locate one or more resources, will be recorded in the search tag cloud.
